2008, Vintage of freshness! - Saumur, September 2008

The « ban » (official authorization to harvest) of the Chardonnay, published last September 17th, officially launched the 2008 harvest.
A mild weather allowed a harvest in good conditions, quiet and without rush.
The great majority of our partners-winegrowers had waited until September 23rd in order to optimize the grape ripeness. We could pick up successively Chenins and Chardonnays.
Even if the crop is in fair quantity, yet, due to the difficult 2007 weather conditions during the floral-initiation period, it does not reach the set yield goals.
The coolness and pluviometry of Summer 2008 is bound to provide a vintage with a marked acidity/sugar balance, favourable to elaborate quality base wines.
Alcoholic fermentations have started and seem to go well.
Musts lead us to predict a fresh, right and clear vintage. |

Crémant representative of its appellation, elaborated from white grapes (70% chenin, 25% chardonnay) completed with a bit of cabernet franc. Pale-yellow with grey glints, this wine expresses a noise of white and dry fruits. It keeps this great aromatic expression in a full and fresh mouth. |

Saumur blanc representative of its appellation. Pale and shiny yellow color, the aromatic complexity of this wine draws attention: peach aromas blends with candy and gun-flint. Lemon completes the range in a mouth full and round that persists with lively and elegant notes.
